I came across an out of the ordinary challenge which I quite fancied having a go at --Pimp Your Matchbox--I have a couple of ideas and this is the first one -not one I planned but kept coming across butterflies sooo went with it.My matchbox is a household box which is just slightly larger than the usual box-12cm x 6.5 cms.
I covered the box in paper from £1 shop/the fancy die-cut borders are Tattered Lace/small black butterflies, brad pull, pearl feet from stash/the oddment on drawer front was from card embossed with TH-EF and wiped with black acrylic. The top butterfly was cut from sticky backed fabric and stuck onto black card for stability, the little butterflies inside were from google--hopefully I have time to make another couple.

Very pretty and fun! I have a billion matchboxes from a local golf course -- promotional items which were printed wrong and had to be discarded -- and have enjoyed decorating them in the past. Perfect for candy or small gifts. Love the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteSuch an elegant match box! Love all of the details and the color scheme is timeless. Thank you for playing with us at the Alphabet Challenge and hope you will join us again soon.
ReplyDeleteI love this particular project so much Carol. Its beautiful and would make such a lovely keepsake. Love the delicate butterflies inside. I have been looking at Matchbox craft as a project for my after school craft club. This is a fabulous example of what can be done. Michelle x
ReplyDeleteI would also find a challenge like this one too tempting to pass-up and your box is just delightful. Makes me think that, instead of giving a card, a gift of a cute little box with a special surprise inside would be appreciated by the recipient and could become a real keepsake. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve transformed this matchbox into a beautiful little gift box and decorative piece that could be used for many purposes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very unique challenge and one I think you nailed perfectly!! I'm a butterfly lover, so your butterfly paper and embellishments were very attractive to me. Nice job with the challenge, and I'm so happy you shared it with us at PIP Challenges!
