Late one again- I quite liked the new challenge at CAS mix it up Botanical Prints- I used the technique of putting leaves through the big shot between two pieces of watercolour paper-trouble was the first time was mid Summer and it worked perfectly even getting some of the colour from the flowers used too onto the paper---
I picked the leaves from aptly named Painters pallette plant, trouble was we had had three days of rain and this was the only decent print I got as most just went through a squashy wet mush!!!
I didn't outline the leaves that was how they came out but quite a good effect.
I then used one as a stamp with oxides and pressed on white cardstock, cut out with creative dies and a circle of corrugated card.I doodled the borders and stamped a friend sentiment wit a Julie Hickey stamp.
This is the one I made 4yrs ago---Using an image my son who is a self taught Tattoo Artist drew.

What a great look you have achieved Carol I have never heard of this technique before I love the ghost effect and the one with the ink on really picks out the veins of the leaf, I think it looks pretty cool, the one you made 4 years ago also looks fantastic

A super card Carol. Ironically, I’ve spent most of the afternoon doing leaf prints for the same challenge. I’ve not had great success but I did have fun using my gel plate and getting covered in acrylic paint! Never mind, tomorrow’s another day. Have a good week x
ReplyDeleteThat's a very creative process and the end results are beautiful! Love that drawing your son made too!

A great technique Carol, you can always rely on the weather to make things difficult! I like the contrast between the plain leaves and the colourful stamped leaf and the corrugated circle adds some lovely texture.

Inspirational crafting Carol and super results, leaves lend themselves to inks and the like and the great thing is you never know what you will end up with.

What a shame the colour didn't transfer, but it doesn't really matter as the effect you achieved is just lovely without it. Love it's simplicity and the little circles xx
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most fun and fascinating technique! Interesting how the leaves outlined themselves. You just never know for sure the results you'll get and that's part of the fun. I've never heard of a Painters Palette plant, but it sure does have some beautiful painterly leaves! Love the colors on your inked leaf. Your card from 4 yrs ago is gorgeous. Your son drew the image? He's good! Carole, I'm glad you played along with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteOops, also I want to thank you for sharing your card at our Four Seasons challenge!
