Masculine Card

Morning and I have a birthday card made for our BIL.I have had the D,paper from CraftO'Clock glued onto the black cardstock then onto a 7"x5" white card for a few weeks but not happy with the effect,so trimmed it down to the D,paper, backed onto a larger piece of black cardstock then onto a larger size white card 6" x 8 and a half inches-looks a lot better!Found a little bag of the die-cut Tim Holtz figures at the bottom of a small box of die-cuts found whilst decluttering. Now I have never owned this die so someone must have sent me them in a swap years ago and no idea who or when! Anyway instead of using the black figure as a dropped shadow, the white was too stark,so used the white behind as a light effect, then I gold embossed the figure to match the paper-with an Art  script stamp from Carabelle. Then used a Tonic die for the sentiment using the same layers-happy with this one! Then son came in and said it looked more like a sympathy card!!!

Oh no, it definitely doesn't look like a sympathie card. A very well done card for men. It's great how you designed it. And I particularly like the idea of the white light border around the figure!!

This is a fantastic masculine birthday card with that gorgeous background and subtle white outline around the image. We all see things differently and I understand your son's opinion, so this card could easily be used for either occasion. It's beautiful.

OH! dear me, that's the kind of thing hubby says. It's a fabulous card Carol, I love the background and how you've added a light behind the image. x

Wow, this is really awesome Carol! I love that background so much! I had my hubby come in while I covered up the sentiment and asked him what it looked like and he said: "A man's birthday." (So there's an opinion from another man! LOL) It's a great masculine card and my husband loves the color blue! Well done my friend!

That's very clever crafting with how you used the die cut -- white for highlight and gold embossing on the black. It totally changed the look. I love the paper. You could almost believe it's actually cracked glass! Carol, thanks for answering my question about the ads. It almost appears as though I'm the only one seeing them. Your way of following is better. I use Feedly and love it.

A great masculine card Carol and it certainly doesn't look like a sympathy card to me. I like the white outline, it really makes Mr Umbrella Man pop on that grungy background.

Wonderful use of Tim Holtz Umbrella Man die cut (I have the die bought clearance priced at Hobby Lobby and like it) for a masculine card. Not a Sympathy card by any means, the word would be or words would be Distressed look in a wonderful positive look. Enjoyed meeting Tim Holtz couple yrs ago when he came to N TX and took classes with him.

Fantastic card, its always satisfying to finally come up with the answer to a part made card - love the gold embossing. Interesting that your son sees it as sympathy, guess we all see things differently. Going by the amount of rain we have in these days this chap is ready for any occasion. Emmax
