Second attempt--cover white card with oxides this time then stamped with Chocolate Baroque stamps and covered card with Gathered Twigs distress ink then wiped over with kitchen roll much better effect-was looking for something to add onto the front and found a packet of fabric banners bought from a craft fair years ago!!! had them sooo long they were going yellow so distressed edges further stamped Honey bee onto it and added string then silicone into centre only so it wasn't flat-much better but still not happy so will try technique again.

I've had this technique bookmarked on SCS for quite a while, but I'm not good about actually trying techniques. It looks fun, and I love seeing your cards, which turned out very pretty. When you first look at a Joseph's Coat card it's a mystery as to how it was accomplished. Cool!
This sounds like a fun technique! I remember dong something similar as a child, but instead of using stamps, a sharp edged object was used to make freehand patterns, always so exiting to see what colors would pop up.

Owww, these are both very interesting cards, love the technique. The end result reminds me of something I did in infant school. Cover a white card with scribbled crayons - completely cover the card. Next go over everything with black crayon. Finally scratch off some of the black to leave behind a pattern or picture of your choice - I did fireworks. These obsessions started early for me!
Both of your cards look great, but if pressed, I think I like the second one best.

Great cards, Carol. Joseph's Coat was the first really 'complicated' technique I tried. I hunted everywhere for a brayer but couldn't find one anywhere at the time, so ended up opening a business so I could sell them, lol. I don't think I was ever happy with my results and that's over 20 years ago! I think I used Big 'n' Juicy pads, too. You've brought back very happy memories AND reminded me of a technique I haven't tried for a while :-) The bigger, bold text stamps around nowadays would work great with it.
Your cards are great - I love the honey bee card - I wouldn't have thought of using brown - duh! I'm not always brilliant at 'thinking outside the box'.

I haven't tried these techniques in years Carol. The effect is so beautiful. I will have to give it a go again. I know I have an old brayer and the big n juicy ink pads hiding away somewhere!!
Both cards turned out just lovely and I'll have to re-visit that technique one of these days. Love the colors on each card!
